Adopt a Legislator!

Here's a short, interesting and useful article called 'Adopt a Legislator' that gives excellent tips on how to form a more personal relationship with your legislator(s) that will allow you to have greater input into state and local affairs. Includes a link for finding your local Representatives' names and contact info. Courtesy of Bernalillo County's chapter of Local Collaborative, Inc.

Meetings News

The next Barter Hours Meeting will take place on Monday, July 7th at 6pm. Because of the rains, the meeting will be held at MaryAnn's Famous Burritos (instead of at Trinidad and Sherrill Martinez' place as originally planned), and will start with a potluck dinner.

The meeting will also include a clothing exchange, so bring any clothes you'd like to trade. E-Mail Cordia or call her or Dianne Lindsay at 426-1468 to find out more about the meeting or to get directions to Trini and Sherrill's.

Local Food Matters

New Community Garden as of June 22!

Julie Olague recently announced a new Community Garden space which began on June 22. The Garden is sponsored by Local Food Matters, and the land is being loaned to the group by Miguel Angel. Anyone can have their own space in the garden, which is located on the corner of Taos and Church streets (one block north of Hot Springs in LV). Call Julie at 421-8936 to learn more.

Local Foods Brochure

Local Food Matters is also preparing a brochure listing all local food producers and growers (including veggies, fruits, eggs, dairy, poultry and meat). What a great resource this will be! If you know a grower who is not yet connected with Local Food Matters and would like to be included in the brochure, please contact Elizabeth Ratzlaff at 454-9242 or Julie Olague at 421-8936. We'll all benefit from pitching in on this one.
